The following eMaps tutorial scenarios demonstrate what you can do with ADEQ's public interactive web mapping application and why you would want to do it. The eMaps help better describes how to use eMaps.

Places near Schools - What ADEQ environmentally related "places of interest" are near my child's school?

Step 1:View the schools.
A:Click the panel's Layers tab.
B:Click the Schools folder.
C:Click the Schools and Learning Sites name.
 
Step 2:Find your child's school.
A:Click the ribbon's MAP FEATURES tab.
B:Click the ribbon's Find Features button in the Forms group.
C:Enter the name of your child's school.
D:Click the Find button.

A:Click the ribbon's Query Features button in the Forms group.
B:Select Schools and Learning Sites from the Layer list.
C:Select NAME from the Field list.
D:Enter the name of your child's school in the Value textbox.
E:Click the Query button.
 
Step 3:Zoom in to your child's school.
A:In the panel's Features tab, click one or more features in the schools list.
 
Step 4:If desired, zoom the map in more.
A:Click the ribbon's MAP TOOLS tab.
B:Click the ribbon's Zoom In button in the Navigation group.
C:On the map, click a corner of the of the area in which you are interested and then drag the mouse to the opposite corner.
 
Step 5:If desired, zoom the map out.
A:Click the ribbon's Zoom Out button in the Navigation group.
B:On the map, click anywhere to zoom out by a factor of two. Reclick as desired.
 
Step 6:If desired, pan the map.
A:Click the ribbon's Pan Map button in the Navigation group.
B:On the map, click and drag in the desired direction.
 
Step 7:View the Schools symbology.
A:Click the ribbon's MAP FEATURES tab.
B:Click the ribbon's Show Legend button in the Actions group.
 
Step 8:Check for ADEQ "places of interest" within a half-mile of your child's school.
A:Click the ribbon's MAP TOOLS tab.
B:Click the ribbon's Point button in the Buffer group.
C:Enter 0.5 in the Distance textbox.
D:Select AZURITE Places from the Layer Features within buffer list.
E:On the map, click the school.
F:Click the Buffer button.
 
Step 9:Zoom in and view feature attributes.
A:In the panel's Features tab, click one or more features in the places list.

VEC - Do I need to get my vehicle emissions tested?

Step 1:View the VEC testing areas.
A:Click the panel's Layers tab.
B:Click the Air Quality folder.
C:Click the VEC - Area A and VEC - Area B checkboxes.
 
Step 2:Zoom in to your address.
A:Click the ribbon's ZOOM MAP tab.
B:Click the ribbon's Find Address button in the Forms group.
C:Enter your address.
D:Click the Zoom button.
 
Step 3:If desired, zoom the map in more.
A:Click the ribbon's MAP TOOLS tab.
B:Click the ribbon's Zoom In button in the Navigation group.
C:On the map, click a corner of the of the area in which you are interested and then drag the mouse to the opposite corner.
 
Step 4:If desired, zoom the map out.
A:Click the ribbon's Zoom Out button in the Navigation group.
B:On the map, click anywhere to zoom out by a factor of two. Reclick as desired.
 
Step 5:If desired, pan the map.
A:Click the ribbon's Pan Map button in the Navigation group.
B:On the map, click and drag in the desired direction.
 
Step 6:See the township range section of your address.
A:Click the panel's Layers tab.
B:Click the Public Land Survey System folder.
C:Click the Townships checkbox.
D:Click the Township Sections checkbox.

Air Quality - Do we live in a designated air pollutant non-attainment or maintenance area?

Step 1:View your desired air non-attainment of maintenance area(s).
A:Click the panel's Layers tab.
B:Click the Air Quality folder.
C:Click one or more of the checkboxes.
 
Step 2:Zoom in to your address.
A:Click the ribbon's ZOOM MAP tab.
B:Click the ribbon's Find Address button in the Forms group.
C:Enter your address.
D:Click the Zoom button.
 
Alt. 2:Zoom in to your latitude/longitude location.
A:Click the ribbon's Zoom Lat/Long button in the Forms group.
B:Enter your latitude/longitude coordinates.
C:Click the Zoom button.
 
Alt. 2:Zoom in to your county, city/town, or zip code.

Landfills - Where is the closest solid waste landfill or hazardous waste disposal facility?

Step 1:View the solid waste landfills or hazardous waste disposal facilities.
A:Click the panel's Layers tab.
B:Click the Waste Programs folder.
C:Click the Landfills - Municipal or Landfills - Non-Municipal name or the Hazardous Waste - TSD name.
 
Step 2:Zoom in to your address.
A:Click the ribbon's ZOOM MAP tab.
B:Click the ribbon's Find Address button in the Forms group.
C:Enter your address.
D:Click the Zoom button.
 
Step 3:Zoom the map out until you see one or more solid waste landfills or hazardous waste disposal facilities.
A:Click the ribbon's MAP TOOLS tab.
B:Click the ribbon's Zoom Out button in the Navigation group.
C:On the map, click anywhere to zoom out by a factor of two. Reclick as desired.
 
Step 4:Pan the map.
A:Click the ribbon's Pan Map button in the Navigation group.
B:On the map, click and drag in the desired direction.
 
Step 5:See how far the solid waste landfill or hazardous waste disposal facility is from your address.
A:Click the ribbon's Distance button in the Measure group.
B:On the map, click the red X that marks your address location.
C:On the map, double-click the solid waste landfill or hazardous waste disposal facility.
 
Step 6:View solid waste landfill or hazardous waste disposal facility attributes.
A:Click the ribbon's Identify button in the Features group.
B:On the map, click the solid waste landfill or hazardous waste disposal facility.
 
Step 7:See the latitude/longitude coordinates of a solid waste landfill or hazardous waste disposal facility.
A:Click the ribbon's Lat/Long button in the Measure group.
B:On the map, click the solid waste landfill or hazardous waste disposal facility.
 
Step 8:Quickly view the names of many solid waste landfills or hazardous waste disposal facilities.
A:Click the ribbon's by Box button in the Select group.
B:On the map, click a corner of the of the area in which you are interested and then drag the mouse to the opposite corner.
 
Step 9:Zoom in and view feature attributes.
A:In the panel's Features tab, click one or more features in the landfills or hazardous waste list.

Superfund - Am I living over a superfund plume?

Step 1:View the superfund plumes.
A:Click the panel's Layers tab.
B:Click the Waste Programs folder.
C:Click the Superfund name.
 
Step 2:Zoom in to your address.
A:Click the ribbon's ZOOM MAP tab.
B:Click the ribbon's Find Address button in the Forms group.
C:Enter your address.
D:Click the Zoom button.
 
Step 3:If desired, zoom the map in more.
A:Click the ribbon's MAP TOOLS tab.
B:Click the ribbon's Zoom In button in the Navigation group.
C:On the map, click a corner of the of the area in which you are interested and then drag the mouse to the opposite corner.
 
Step 4:If desired, zoom the map out.
A:Click the ribbon's Zoom Out button in the Navigation group.
B:On the map, click anywhere to zoom out by a factor of two. Reclick as desired.
 
Step 5:If desired, pan the map.

Step 6:View the Superfund symbology.
A:Click the ribbon's MAP FEATURES tab.

Step 7:If you are not over a superfund plume, see how far away the closest plume is.
A:Click the ribbon's MAP TOOLS tab.
B:Click the ribbon's Distance button in the Measure group.
C:On the map, click the red X that marks your address location.
D:On the map, double-click the closest edge of the superfund plume.
 
Step 8:View superfund attributes.
A:Click the ribbon's Identify button in the Features group.
B:On the map, click a superfund plume.

C:Click the UST - Releases name.

C:Enter your address.
D:Click the Zoom button.
 
Step 3:If desired, zoom the map in more.

Impaired Waters - Does my favorite assessed lake or stream meet state water quality standards?

Step 1:View the impaired lakes or streams.
A:Click the panel's Layers tab.
B:Click the Water Quality folder.
C:Click the Lakes - Impaired 2016 or Streams - Impaired 2016 name.
 
Step 2:Find your lake or stream.
A:Click the ribbon's MAP FEATURES tab.
B:Click the ribbon's Find Features button in the Forms group.
C:Enter the name of your lake or stream.
D:Click the Find button.
 
Alt. 2:Find your lake or stream.
A:Click the ribbon's MAP FEATURES tab.
B:Click the ribbon's Query Features button in the Forms group.
C:Select Lakes - Impaired 2016 or Streams - Impaired 2016 from the Layer list.
D:Select Name from the Field list.
E:Enter the name of your lake or stream in the Value textbox.
