The following eMaps tutorial scenarios demonstrate what you can do with ADEQ's public interactive web mapping application and why you would want to do it.

Places near Schools- What ADEQ environmentally related "places of interest" are near my child's school?

Step 1:View the schools.
A:Click the Layers tab.
B:Click the Schools bar.
C:Click the Schools and Learning Sites label.
 
Step 2:Find your child's school.
A:Click the Features menubar item.
B:Click the Find Features menu item.
C:Enter the name of your child's school.
D:Click the Find button.
 
Alt. 2:Find your child's school.
A:Click the Features menubar item.
B:Click the Query Features menu item.
C:Select Schools and Learning Sites from the Layer list.
D:Select NAME from the Field list.
E:Enter the name of your child's school in the Value textbox.
F:Click the Query button.
 
Step 3:Zoom in to your child's school.
A:In the Features tab, click one or more features in the schools list.
 
Step 4:If desired, zoom the map in more.
A:Click the Navigation menubar item.
B:Click the Zoom In menu item.
C:On the map, click a corner of the of the area in which you are interested and then drag the mouse to the opposite corner.
 
Step 5:If desired, zoom the map out.
A:Click the Navigation menubar item.
B:Click the Zoom Out menu item.
C:On the map, click anywhere to zoom out by a factor of two. Reclick as desired.
 
Step 6:If desired, pan the map.
A:Click the Navigation menubar item.
B:Click the Pan Map menu item.
C:On the map, click and drag in the desired direction.
 
Step 7:View the Schools symbology.
A:Click the Features menubar item.
B:Click the Show Legend menu item.
 
Step 8:Check for ADEQ "places of interest" within a half-mile of your child's school.
A:Click the Features menubar item.
B:Click the Buffer Features menu item.
C:Click the Buffer Point button.
D:Enter 0.5 in the Distance textbox.
E:Select AZURITE Places from the Layer Features within buffer list.
F:On the map, click the school.
G:Click the Buffer button.
 
Step 9:Zoom in and view feature attributes.
A:In the Features tab, click one or more features in the places list.

VEC - Do I need to get my vehicle emissions tested?

Step 1:View the VEC testing areas.
A:Click the Layers tab.
B:Click the Air Quality bar.
C:Click the VEC - Area A and VEC - Area B checkboxes.
 
Step 2:Zoom in to your address.
A:Click the Navigation menubar item.
B:Click the Find Address menu item.
C:Enter your address.
D:Click the Zoom button.
 
Step 3:If desired, zoom the map in more.
A:Click the Navigation menubar item.
B:Click the Zoom In menu item.
C:On the map, click a corner of the of the area in which you are interested and then drag the mouse to the opposite corner.
 
Step 4:If desired, zoom the map out.
A:Click the Navigation menubar item.
B:Click the Zoom Out menu item.
C:On the map, click anywhere to zoom out by a factor of two. Reclick as desired.
 
Step 5:If desired, pan the map.
A:Click the Navigation menubar item.
B:Click the Pan Map menu item.

Step 6:See the township range section of your address.
A:Click the Layers tab.
B:Click the Public Land Survey System bar.
C:Click the Townships checkbox.
D:Click the Township Sections checkbox.

Air Quality - Do we live in a designated air pollutant non-attainment or maintenance area?

Step 1:View your desired air non-attainment of maintenance area(s).
A:Click the Layers tab.
B:Click the Air Quality bar.
C:Click one or more of the checkboxes.
 
Step 2:Zoom in to your address.
A:Click the Navigation menubar item.
B:Click the Find Address menu item.
C:Enter your address.
D:Click the Zoom button.
 
Alt. 2:Zoom in to your latitude/longitude location.
A:Click the Navigation menubar item.
B:Click the Zoom Lat/Long menu item.
C:Enter your latitude/longitude coordinates.
D:Click the Zoom button.

Landfills - Where is the closest solid waste landfill or hazardous waste disposal facility?

Step 1:View the solid waste landfills or hazardous waste disposal facilities.
A:Click the Layers tab.
B:Click the Waste Programs bar.
C:Click the Landfills - Municipal or Landfills - Non-Municipal label or the Hazardous Waste - TSD label.
 
Step 2:Zoom in to your address.
A:Click the Navigation menubar item.
B:Click the Find Address menu item.
C:Enter your address.
D:Click the Zoom button.
 
Step 3:Zoom the map out until you see one or more solid waste landfills or hazardous waste disposal facilities.
A:Click the Navigation menubar item.
B:Click the Zoom Out menu item.
C:On the map, click anywhere to zoom out by a factor of two. Reclick as desired.
 
Step 4:Pan the map.
A:Click the Navigation menubar item.
B:Click the Pan Map menu item.
C:On the map, click and drag in the desired direction.
 
Step 5:See how far the solid waste landfill or hazardous waste disposal facility is from your address.
A:Click the Information menubar item.
B:Click the Measure menu item.
C:On the map, click the red X that marks your address location.
D:On the map, double-click the solid waste landfill or hazardous waste disposal facility.
 
Step 6:View solid waste landfill or hazardous waste disposal facility attributes.
A:Click the Features menubar item.
B:Click the Identify Feature menu item.
C:On the map, click the solid waste landfill or hazardous waste disposal facility.
 
Step 7:See the latitude/longitude coordinates of a solid waste landfill or hazardous waste disposal facility.
A:Click the Information menubar item.
B:Click the Show Lat/Long menu item.
C:On the map, click the solid waste landfill or hazardous waste disposal facility.
 
Step 8:Quickly view the names of many solid waste landfills or hazardous waste disposal facilities.
A:Click the Features menubar item.
B:Click the Select Features menu item.

Step 9:Zoom in and view feature attributes.

Superfund - Am I living over a superfund plume?

Step 1:View the superfund plumes.
A:Click the Layers tab.
B:Click the Waste Programs bar.
C:Click the Superfund label.
 
Step 2:Zoom in to your address.
A:Click the Navigation menubar item.
B:Click the Find Address menu item.
C:Enter your address.
D:Click the Zoom button.
 
Step 3:If desired, zoom the map in more.
A:Click the Navigation menubar item.
B:Click the Zoom In menu item.
C:On the map, click a corner of the of the area in which you are interested and then drag the mouse to the opposite corner.
 
Step 4:If desired, zoom the map out.
A:Click the Navigation menubar item.
B:Click the Zoom Out menu item.
C:On the map, click anywhere to zoom out by a factor of two. Reclick as desired.
 
Step 5:If desired, pan the map.
A:Click the Navigation menubar item.
B:Click the Pan Map menu item.

Step 6:View the Superfund symbology.
A:Click the Features menubar item.
B:Click the Show Legend menu item.
 
Step 7:If you are not over a superfund plume, see how far away the closest plume is.
A:Click the Information menubar item.
B:Click the Measure menu item.
C:On the map, click the red X that marks your address location.
D:On the map, double-click the closest edge of the superfund plume.
 
Step 8:View superfund attributes.
A:Click the Features menubar item.
B:Click the Identify Feature menu item.
C:On the map, click a superfund plume.

Step 1:View the leaking underground storage tanks.
A:Click the Layers tab.
B:Click the Waste Programs bar.
C:Click the UST - Releases label.
 
Step 2:Zoom in to your address.
A:Click the Navigation menubar item.
B:Click the Find Address menu item.
C:Enter your address.
D:Click the Zoom button.
 
Step 3:If desired, zoom the map in more.
A:Click the Navigation menubar item.
B:Click the Zoom In menu item.
C:On the map, click a corner of the of the area in which you are interested and then drag the mouse to the opposite corner.
 
Step 4:If desired, zoom the map out.

Impaired Waters - Does my favorite assessed lake or stream meet state water quality standards?

Step 1:View the impaired lakes or streams.
A:Click the Layers tab.
B:Click the Water Quality bar.
C:Click the Lakes - Impaired 2012/14 or Streams - Impaired 2012/14 label.
 
Step 2:Find your lake or stream.
A:Click the Features menubar item.
B:Click the Find Features menu item.
C:Enter the name of your lake or stream.
D:Click the Find button.
 
Alt. 2:Find your lake or stream.
A:Click the Features menubar item.
B:Click the Query Features menu item.
C:Select Lakes - Impaired 2012/14 or Streams - Impaired 2012/14 from the Layer list.
D:Select Name from the Field list.
E:Enter the name of your lake or stream in the Value textbox.
F:Click the Query button.
 
Step 3:If your lake or stream was found, zoom in and view its list of contaminants.
A:In the Features tab, click the lake or stream in the list.
 
Step 4:If desired, zoom the map in more.
A:Click the Navigation menubar item.
B:Click the Zoom In menu item.
C:On the map, click a corner of the of the area in which you are interested and then drag the mouse to the opposite corner.
 
Step 5:If desired, zoom the map out.

Step 1:View the legislative districts.
A:Click the Layers tab.
B:Click the Political bar.
C:Click the Legislative Districts label.
 
Step 2:Zoom in to your legislative district.
A:Click the Features menubar item.
B:Click the Find Features menu item.
C:Enter the number of your district.
D:Click the Find button.
E:In the Features tab, click the number of your district in the Legislative Districts list.
 
Step 3:If desired, zoom the map in more.
